PERVERSE SEA CHANGE: Underwater Cultural Heritage in the Ocean is Facing Chemical and Physical Changes
نویسنده
چکیده
Is the loss of our Underwater Cultural Heritage accelerating? The term “underwater cultural heritage” (UCH) refers to all remnants of human activities lying on the seabed, on riverbeds, or at the bottom of lakes. It includes shipwrecks and artifacts lost at sea and extends to prehistoric sites, sunken towns, and ancient ports that were once on dry land but now are submerged due to manmade, climatic, or geological changes. It can include works of art, collectable coinage, and even weapons. This global underwater trove forms an integral part of our common archaeological and historical heritage. It has the potential to provide invaluable information about cultural and economic contacts and migration and trade patterns.

An Approach for Operation Depth Reduction of an Underwater Glider Propelled by Ocean Thermal Energy
The underwater Gliders are a kind of autonomous vehicles that have a special role in ocean surveys which demand continuous monitoring and long endurance. Because of low energy consumption and long endurance, these vehicles are favorite for these missions. Among this, a type of gliders can harvest ocean thermal energy, causing significant endurance increase. These vehicles need at least 680 mete...
